This pic was taken on my birthday(yes my mom makes it for me every year). bread recipes for bread maker
Several bread roll recipes call for spicy potato stuffing, but I have added a few more veggies for that "extra" factor. (a good way to sneak veggies in your kids' meals). You could even customize them and add some cheese and herbs. I personally also used some leftover subji which also works well instead of spiced potato filling. Make sure you cool the stuffing well before you start making your rolls and squeeze out excess water so it doesn't absorb much oil while frying. bread recipes for beginners

Veg seekh kebab
Baked Potatoes
Thai Peanut Noodles
So enough of my stories and tips, let's get down to the real recipe.
Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 7 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
6 slices of bread
1/2 cup soya granules
1/2 cup grated cabbage
1/4 cup grated carrots
1 boiled potato
1 teaspoon salt(or as per taste)
1 tablespoon oil(to cook stuffing)
oil (for frying)
1/2 cup soya granules
1/2 cup grated cabbage
1/4 cup grated carrots
1 boiled potato
1 teaspoon salt(or as per taste)
1 tablespoon oil(to cook stuffing)
oil (for frying)
Instructions:
- Firstly we have to prep our stuffing. For that you can refer to my seekh kebab recipe(follow the exact same procedure but without the chickpea flour and mustard oil). Of course, you can always improvise here with some peas, cheese or maybe ignore the soy.
- If you like the traditional version, you could skip all the hassle and
- Once that is done, set it aside to cool down a bit. Meanwhile, you could trim down the edges of the bread slices. Save the sides to make bread crumbs or deep fry them to top your tomato soup.
- Keeping a small bowl of water beside you, take a trimmed slice and slightly dampen it. The word slightly is in bold italics so you know you don't have to dip it in water and smush it into the dough it came from. Be very gentle and literally just sprinkle some water on the slice.
- Now, press the slice a little to spread the water and put 1 spoon of stuffing in the middle. you could put it as a ball or arrange it lengthwise.
- now slowly roll the bread onto the stuffing and press it until it sticks to the other side of the bread(because it is damp). If you find it difficult to visualize, you can simply fold the bread over the stuffing and seal the other end with some more water. Make sure the slice doesn't tear as it will be very pliable.
- After rolling the rolls out, you can stick them in the freezer for about 5 minutes until your oil is getting heated up for deep frying. It sets the bread and prevents the roll from falling apart in the oil and shattering your dreams.
- Once the oil is hot enough for deep frying, take the rolls out and gently lower them into the oil. There might be some initial splattering, so beware.
- The bread rolls won't take much time to cook. Maximum 30 seconds on each side. We are looking for a deep brown colour with some ridges. So as soon as the roll is brown-ish, take them off heat. Don't depend on my timing because there will be differences in some conditions and other things.
- Aaaand there you have it! Delicious bread rolls.
